Granada is the city of soft light, magnificient fortress, flamenco caves and long evenings scented with orange blossom. It feels slower than the rest of Andalusia, almost shy. If you’re planning a trip in Southern Spain, this iconic city has to be on your bucketlist.
There’s something very poetic about the city. Set in one of the coldest parts of Andalusia, Granada feels different from the rest of the region. As the last stronghold of Arab Spain, this history is the most visible. Granada’s best hotels don’t shout luxury. Hidden behind heavy wooden doors, many sit inside old palaces or former convents, with a style that feels closer to Morocco than the heart of Spain.
Whether you want to stay near the Alhambra or choose a quieter base in the Albaicín, Granada offers places to stay for every type of traveler. To help you plan, here’s a curated list of the best hotels in Granada.
- I thoroughly checked their reviews on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews, not just the ones I pick but also the ones I don’t.

Hotel Casa 1800 Granada
Best Boutique Hotel in Granada
Hotel Casa 1800 Granada is a beautiful boutique hotel set in an old Granada house. Built in the last third of the 16th century, on the outline of an important Arab home, this is where the Lords of Cañaveral once lived. But its impressive history isn’t all there is to it! Sitting at the foot of the hill to the Alhambra on one side and the Albaicín on the other, the location feels quietly perfect for wandering Granada’s old streets. Within easy walking distance of seemingly everything, it’s good to know the street is not accessible by taxi or car, meaning you’ll have to walk a short and gentle way from the drop-off.
The decor is all very tastefully done. Blending French royal chic with simplicity, Hotel Casa 1800 Granada mixes sumptuous beige tones and luxurious drapings to create its beautiful period character. In the afternoon, you can relax after exploring the city with thei free tea service. For a more fully sensorial experience, the hotel also has a partnership with Hammam Al Ándalus Granada. What a dream after a long day of walking! This hotel is boutique romanticism at its best.

Seda Club Hotel
Best hotel for families in Granada
Seda Club Hotel is one of those places that quietly surprises you. You wouldn’t guess the level of luxury just by looking at its pink outside devanture, but once inside, the tone is set: confident elegance.
The rooms are a good size, calm and grounded in earth tones, with modern furniture, wood accents, and lofty velvet fabrics that will make you feel warm even during Granada’s coldest nights. The decor is top notch, curated with care, but that’s not all there is to it. There’s a rooftop oasis, and an indoor heated swimming pool with chromotherapy for quieter moments.
Close enough to the Cathedral and the lively Calle Alcaicería, the hotel feels perfectly placed for slow walks through the historic center. Everything is central here. just a few minutes’ walk from nearby monuments, about 20 minutes on foot to the Alhambra, and only a 7-minute walk to the bus stop that takes you there. It’s also one of those thoughtful places : pet friendly, beautiful, and easy to return to, especially if you love hotels where design and comfort move together.

Palacio Gran Vía
Best luxury hotel in Granada
Just a few steps from Granada Cathedral and beside the historic Palais de la Madraza, Palacio Gran Vía is a beautiful hotel in the former Rodríguez-Acosta Bank. (Original details from the 1905 design are still preserved.) Right in the heart of the city, it’s close to shops, sights, and even the tablao Flamenco La Alborea. (One of the best flamenco location in Granada.) The location makes exploring Granada easy while still staying in a quiet part of the city.
The rooms are spacious, elegant, and very comfortable, with high-quality toiletries and small touches like choosing the fragrance for your room. Some rooms have balconies, and a few even look out over the cathedral. After a day of walking around, you can relax in the hammam pool or enjoy the rooftop terrace with views of the city. Wanting something a little more special? La Sucursal café, inside the hotel, arequite the tea expert. With its great location, beautiful design, and calm atmosphere, Palacio Gran Vía is, I think, one of the best places to stay in Granada.

Gar Anat Hotel Boutique
Best 3-star hotel in Seville
Gar Anat Hotel Boutique gets its name from an old name for Granada and is set in an authentic Moorish house. It’s a mid-range boutique hotel that gives great value for money. Just steps from Granada Cathedral and a few minutes from the Alcaicería market, its central location makes it perfect for exploring the city.
The décor mixes a traditional Andalusian courtyard with modern touches, and the bedrooms have lovely wooden ceilings that feel very authentic. Hotel Casa Morisca
Best hotel in Albaicín
A long-time favorite hotel of mine in Granada, it’s no surprise that Hotel Casa Morisca has made this list. Situated almost perfectly in the Albaicín, Hotel Casa Morisca is a historic house turned hotel at the foot of the Alhambra. And just like its great neighbor, it feels deeply rooted in Granada’s past. It sits in a quiet area close to the Rey Chico viewpoint, with short walks leading you to the city’s main sights.
Michelin-mentioned, the hotel’s style is Moorish-influenced, with a central courtyard and rooms that feel like they were taken straight from the best riads of Morocco. At times, it honestly feels like you’re in Fez. If you aren’t lucky enough to get the Mirador room, which offers panoramic views of the city and the Alhambra, the hotel also has a rooftop terrace with the same beautiful view.
From reception, shows, restaurants, and guided tours of the Alhambra and the city can be booked with ease. This is a hotel I truly adore for its perfect location near the Alhambra and the historic center. If, like me, you’re fascinated by the history of the region, this is the hotel you should stay in when visiting Granada

Tips and FAQ
Seville vs Granada
Choosing between Seville and Granada can be tricky since both are amazing places to visit.
The city is smaller, wrapped in mountain views, and has a strong character that sets it apart from other cities in the region. The Alhambra watches over everything, and there’s a calm here that makes you want to wander without a plan. It’s not the easiest place to reach, but once you arrive, Granada feels like a city you truly experience, not just visit.
Seville, on the other hand, is larger and full of energy. Known for its lively atmosphere, it’s the cultural and historical heart of Andalusia, where grand Andalusian palaces sit next to modern neighborhoods. The city really comes alive at night, with flamenco, busy tapas bars, and streets that never seem to slow down. With great public transit and a central location, Seville also makes an ideal base for exploring nearby towns.
