The city is a mix of different cultures; there’s Spanish vibe, but you can also feel the proud Andalusian culture. Talking about Cádiz means talking about its super old history. It was built 3,000 years ago by the Phoenicians and it’s the oldest city in the West. It’s famous for its history of trade.

Maybe you want to stay right in the middle of the old town, or perhaps you prefer a spot where the city meets the beach at Playa de la Victoria. Either way, here is a curated list of the best hotels in Cádiz.

  • I thoroughly checked their reviews on TripAdvisor and Google Reviews, not just the ones I pick but also the ones I don’t.
  • I take my time to check each hotel one by one, looking at what they offer, how much it costs, and who it’s best for.

Tips and FAQ

  • Choose Cadiz’s Old Town if you want to be close to everything.
  • Cadiz’s most famous beach, Playa de La Caleta, is right in the old town. Go there about an hour before sunset and watch the sun go down into the ocean.
  • Playa de la Victoria is one of the nicest beaches in Cadiz (and honestly, in the whole area), and the area around it is super busy. You’ll find loads of hotels, bars, and restaurants there to suit everyone’s taste.
  • Head up to Torre Tavira to see all of Cadiz from one of its centuries-old towers.

Cádiz vs Jerez

Jerez and Cadiz are really different cities.

Jerez, being inland, doesn’t have beaches like Cadiz. But that doesn’t mean it’s not charming. Jerez is bigger than Cadiz, so you can stroll its streets, visit its Alcázar, and visit as many bodegas as you like. Also, Jerez is a good place for public transit, making it a great base to explore nearby villages.

On the other hand, Cádiz has a small-town feel. It’s not as well connected to the region as Jerez. Still, people adore Cádiz for its reputation as the top spot for tasty seafood and stunning beaches along the Costa de la Luz. It’s easy to hop on a ferry to neighboring towns like Rota and Puerto de Santa María. Even though Puerto de Santa María is a bit far, its charming castle and cathedral are definitely worth a visit.
